A massive fire raged at one of India's largest landfill sites amid a heatwave.Footage shows the inferno engulfing the huge rubbish mountain at the Ghazipur landfill site in Delhi on April 21 evening.Residents choked on the noxious fumes as the blaze continued to burn through the methane-filled site containing some 8.4 million tonnes of waste on Monday, April 22.A resident, Nazra, said: 'I live here and the smoke is causing discomfort to the eyes. We are also having difficulties in breathing. The entire colony is disturbed. Last time, when the landfill caught fire, there were casualties.'Another resident, Ram Kumar, said: 'We are unable to keep our eyes open due to irritation and are experiencing difficulty breathing.'An unnamed local slammed the government, saying the fires were a longstanding problem in the community around the landfill. They said: 'We have been facing this problem since the 1990s. We have been dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and irritation in the eyes due to the smoke. Even small children are suffering due to it. We are not able to go out. No one is paying attention to our problems, be it the Delhi government or the central government.'Firefighters were at the scene to contain the fire, which erupted during soaring temperatures in the country.

The FCC voted 3-2 to restore net neutrality rules, which prevent internet providers from favoring or blocking certain sites/apps. The rules ban practices like throttling, blocking, or reserving faster speeds for sites willing to pay more. Experts say state laws helped curb internet provider abuses even without the federal rules. Net neutrality requires providers to treat all internet traffic equally without incentives to favor partners. The FCC chair says broadband is now essential, not a luxury, necessitating the protections.

The runaway success of weight loss drugs took the markets by storm last year, spurring huge stock gains for drugmakers like Novo Nordisk, which makes Wegovy and Ozempic. Most patients take them at home in weekly injections, using plastic, pen-like devices known as autoinjectors, filled with the liquid medication and fitted with a tiny needle as wide as two human hairs.

As demand for the drugs soars, so does the need for those devices. That growth has now minted a new billionaire: Roger Samuelsson, the 60-year-old Swedish cofounder of Switzerland-based SHL Medical, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of autoinjectors. Forbes estimates he’s worth $3 billion, largely thanks to his 69% stake in the company he cofounded in 1989. The remaining 31% is held by Swedish private equity firm EQT—which has minted seven billionaires over the years—and Athos, the family office of the billionaire Struengmann brothers. Press-shy Samuelsson, who declined multiple requests for an interview, also enjoys fast cars (he raced in the 2016 Ferrari Challenge series) and owns the 414-foot megayacht Octopus, which he bought in 2021; the yacht was built for its first owner, Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen (d. 2018).

0:00 Introduction
0:20 Who Is Roger Samuelsson?
3:32 The Growing Market For Injectors
5:50 Who Is The Competition In The Space
8:50 What's Next For SHL Medical
10:45 What's Next For Roger Samuelsson

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/giacomotognini/2024/04/12/meet-the-billionaire-owned-company-making-injectors-for-blockbuster-drugs-like-ozempic/?sh=5ba1ce857607

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. Armed with more than $750 million in funding, Brett Adcock vows that Figure will become one of the most important businesses in the world. First, there is a lot of work to do. Adcock, the 38-year-old founder and CEO of robot maker Figure, is riding high. In January, the company announced a collaboration with BMW, with the goal of putting Figure’s robots to work at the German automaker’s Spartanburg, South Carolina manufacturing plant. Six weeks later, Figure raised $675 million at a $2.6 billion valuation from the likes of Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI Startup Fund and Jeff Bezos. At the same time, Figure signed a collaboration agreement with OpenAI to develop next generation AI models for humanoid robots.

The valuation makes Adcock, who owns about 50% of the Sunnyvale, California company, a new billionaire. With his Figure stake and shares from a previous startup, he’s worth an estimated $1.4 billion.
Even with all the money in the world, success is not assured.

0:00 Intro
0:35 Who is Brett Adcock?
1:45 Building the Figure Team
2:18 What Makes Figure Different?
3:16 Figure 01 Demonstration
4:44 Training Humanoids
6:47 The Future of Robots

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kerryadolan/2024/04/15/meet-the-new-ai-robot-billionaire/?sh=4eef9f7f7c32

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. Walking to the first interview for this project, I noticed a young boy sitting on a wall a few roads down from my north London flat. He had his head in his hands and his body shook gently, quiet sobs erupting as his feet dangled above the ground. Opposite him lay a sea of flowers, some wilting, others fresh, weather-worn cards, their rain-defeated ink fading into illegibility and candles laid out to form the initials ‘JH’. When I came back home five hours later, he was still there. It’s a memorial Londoners have walked past countless times since it appeared in early January, at the site where 24-year-old Jonah Ho-Shue was stabbed to death. He was the first person to be killed on London’s streets this year.Around the capital, it is not uncommon to see shrines like this — tributes to lives cut tragically short. In many ways, knife crime is a hyper-visible problem in London. It is a fear which can sometimes lie dormant, and then be lit ablaze when a particularly senseless tragedy hits the headlines, such as the killing of 15-year-old schoolgirl Elianne Andam, or 16-year-old Harry Pitman at the end of last year.Until 2016, youth violence in the capital was widely understood to be falling — down from a peak in 2009. Then the numbers started climbing again. The 2020 lockdown seemed to provide some respite, as rates of stabbings decreased for the first time in half a decade, but knife crime in London has risen each year since the pandemic, with a 22 per cent increase in Met Police recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in the last year (up to September 2023).
