Stunning pictures show a couple’s spectacular ‘four seasons’ garden bursting with spring colours – hidden in the industrial heartland of the Black Country.

Tony Newton, 74, and wife Marie, 76, have devoted 42 years and more than £15,000
transforming their ordinary suburban garden into an idyllic oasis.

Their garden in Walsall, West Mids., features more than 3,000 plants and flowers, including 450 azalea, 120 Japanese maples, 15 juniper blue stars.

Locals have nicknamed the stunning garden ‘four seasons’ after the couple deliberately planted different flowers to bloom all year round.

The green-fingered couple spend up to eight hours every day maintaining the quarter-of-an-acre plot which attracts visitors from around the world.

Marie said: “Over the years we’ve had a lot of interest. Someone flew in from New York.

“We’ve had a lot of Chinese tourists. We’ve been all over the world.

“We had a couple of Chinese girls come down from Sheffield on a landscape course. Back in China they’d heard even about us.

“We used to open the garden once a year to the public but we now share it with just family and friends.”

Marie started gardening as a hobby after she retired from her job as a transport planner in 1982.

When Tony retired as a GP a couple of years later, the couple dedicated their time to cultivating their garden paradise.

Marie recalled: “I used to work on the grass and the borders a little here and there.

“I had to stay in ear shot of the landline and we had four children in five years so we were very busy.

“The garden became a feature to keep them entertained.

“We started in 1992 to develop it. We made the garden safe for the kids and attracted the children.

“After ten years they got more sophisticated. Between 1992 and 1995 we landscaped all of it. We did it all ourselves, without any outside help.

“Tony laid the paths and I was quite happy to wield a pickaxe.

“It’s gradually evolved over the years. In 2000 we built a stream and two years later built a second stream.

“We used to use head torches in the dark evenings and do the work in the garden.

“It’s the Black Country and as we always say it’s where the black country turns green. We have no houses behind us.

“We’ve got a variety of evergreens. We created the garden with lots of views, anchor plants. Spring and autumn are the two most vivid.

“They all turn lovely colours. The main trees we’ve got are maples and acers.

“They’re just brilliant colours. In the winter it’s lots and lots of bulbs. We’ve got colour all year round.

“A lot of neighbours ask advice sometimes, we all have larger gardens. We’ve had no formal training. It’s just been trial and error, a lot of error.

“We know what we need now. You have to look at the plants to see which is being the most dominant. Sometimes you have to meditate.

“We’ve been here for 42 years now and we’ve mastered our garden.

;Summer is almost here and we are talking the hottest DIY nail and lash trends with two of the most sought-after pros. Celebrity makeup artist and KISS Lashes ambassador Sir John who's done everyone from Beyoncé to Serena Williams and celebrity manicurist and imPRESS manicure brand ambassador Tom Bachik who's done nails for Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Margot Robbie, both say when it comes to summer beauty it's all about looking confident. So what trends are we seeing for summer 2024? Well, it's all about the eyes and of course no look is complete without a full set of lashes. Sir John loves imPRESS Press-on Falsies , which requires no glue and are one-step press on and go lashes. They have this exclusive design with self-stick technology for a quick and easy application that lasts for 24 hours with no mess and they're mistake-proof. They're easy to remove too and don't leave sticky residue, they won't harm your natural lash either which is major. And unlike lash strips, these are clusters of falsies you place under your natural lash rather than on top. You can find imPRESS Press-on Falsies on impressbeauty.com and Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Ulta, and Target for $8.99 - $19.99. Next up, let's talk nails! Tom has partnered with imPRESS, making A-lister mani and pedi trends achievable at-home. He says press-on nails for hands and feet are the perfect summer fashion accessory and the way to get a perfect mani and pedi--fast, easy all by yourself at home. imPRESS Press-On Nails , like the lashes--require no glue and come with pre-applied patented super hold adhesive that lasts for up to 7-days. Safe, no damage to your natural nails, no chipping, and of course no dry time, plus, they're waterproof. Just peel, press and go! Each kit includes everything you need to apply the mani and pedi, including plenty of sizes to choose from. Removal is also safe, easy and mess-free. They make it so easy to switch up your styles to match your outfit. As far as trends, Tom's currently loving multi-glitter effects, classic French, and fun designs like floral and fruit - which you can achieve easily with this new collection. Get the matching mani and pedi sets at impressbeauty.com, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and Ulta for $7.99 - $9.49.

When a woman who once bore the title “Financial Applications Product Owner II” at an insurance company, starts a TikTok with “this is the sketchiest thing I’m doing to make extra money,” you might think she’s playing it up for drama. But Amber Smith, a 27-year-old from Des Moines, Iowa with an MBA, is dead serious. She’s swapped insurance for the influencer business (focusing her content on reselling clothes), and she’s been picking up $40 here and there with a scheme that sounds pretty shady.

“I’ve started selling tradelines on my credit cards,” Smith says in the video that has since garnered millions of views across the social mediasphere. “Essentially what this is, is if a person has bad credit, but they know that they need to get a mortgage or a car loan or something, they pay money to this website,” she says, referring to Tradeline Supply Company, a San Diego based broker. “This website matches them up with me based on what they’re looking for and I add them as an authorized user to my credit card.”

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/brandonkochkodin/2024/05/07/this-company-wants-you-to-rent-your-credit-history/?sh=58ff759f20e5

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, and 90% of those cancers are melanoma, the deadliest type. But the good news is it is treatable if detected early. In fact, the five-year survival rate is 99%. On a mission to spread that message, longtime leaders in sun protection, skincare brand La Roche-Posay in partnership with TDS, the dermatologist specialists of New York City were offering free head to toe skin cancer screenings to the public. The brand says they've helped facilitate more than half a million skin exams by board certified dermatologists over the last ten years. Events like these, they say, help provide access to someone who may not visit a dermatologist regularly or have access to one. The team says more than 90% of skin cancers are caused by sun exposure and the sun's harmful rays can penetrate even through glass, so that means no matter where you are or what you're doing, if you're exposed to sunlight you need to protect your skin and remember - every day is a sunscreen day.
