This lineup showcases significant improvements in efficiency, standard equipment, design customization options, and an updated control and display concept. <br/><br/>Performance and efficiency gains stem from a newly designed powertrain that includes a more potent rear-axle motor, improved battery technology, enhanced thermal management, and optimized recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategies. But with Volvo now launching a range of new dedicated EVs, including the EX30 and flagship EX90 (due in late 2024), it seems fitting that the electric XC40s will be renamed EX40. At the same time, the coupe-style C40 will soon be called EC40. But while there's a new name, not much has changed other than a minor software-assisted power upgrade and the nifty Black Edition hardware level.<br/><br/>The EX40's interior is business as usual and remains unchanged compared to the current electric XC40 Recharge. Although Volvo has more recently developed the vertical 9.0-inch touchscreen to run on Android software, you get the same layout that this SUV has had since its original introduction; It enables built-in Google Maps, Google voice assistant and Play Store.<br/><br/>The screen remains largely intuitive, but the small buttons for highly critical controls like climate settings are difficult to use. While the overall look and layout remains smart, when seen next to Volvo's latest generation of cars (primarily the EX30) it starts to look a bit dated as its screen also looks quite small.<br/><br/>One thing you can't do without is the EX40's interior fit and finish. Although it's one of Volvo's cheaper models, the quality never feels that way due to an array of luxury materials used throughout. The Swedish firm has also ditched leather and adopted a range of sustainable alternative materials with its EX40 model. Our test car also has gorgeous wool cloth upholstery, giving it the feel of a more luxurious Scandinavian lounge rather than the interior of a compact SUV.<br/><br/>These seats play an important role in the overall feel of the EX40. We've spent a lot of time in XC40s over the years, and their seats are among the best on the market; offers plenty of power adjustments as well as an extendable seat base; Ideal for tall drivers.<br/><br/>Although theoretically no different from the XC40, we'll need more time to make a more definitive judgment on comfort with this newly updated Volvo.<br/><br/>Volvos are renowned for their safety, and there's little to suggest the EX40 will be any different. All of our time with the EX40 was spent on ice, but although there's no physical switch to turn off or reduce any of the electronic stability control aids, we'd say this is a car designed with safety rather than fun in mind.<br/><br/>The new EX40 will largely carry over the same two powertrains that have served the XC40 Recharge since its launch: a 238-hp single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model and a twin-motor, all-wheel-drive flagship model that produces a healthy 408 hp. .<br/><br/>But opt for the latter on the EX40 and you'll be able to add a new 'Performance' software upgrade that gives the engines an extra 34hp, bringing the total to a whopping 442hp. <br/> <br/>Source: https://www.parkers.co.uk/volvo/ex40/review/

STI Sport Black Interior Selection is now available for the Japanese-spec Subaru Forester.<br/><br/>The fifth-generation Subaru Forester continues to experience another model year in Japan with its carried over design and powertrains.<br/>Model year updates include the addition of the new STI Sport Black Interior Selection special edition.<br/>The US-spec Forester Wilderness' Geyser Blue is available only for Japan-spec X-Edition and XT-Edition models.<br/>Subaru may have introduced the new sixth generation of the Forester in North America, but Japanese buyers will have to make do with the current model, which has been on the market since 2018. The domestic version Forester will receive minor model year updates for 2024, including the new STI Sport. A Black Interior Select trim is available, adopting an all-black theme for the cabin.<br/><br/>The exterior of the SUV remains unchanged since its last facelift in 2021. However, Subaru aims to maintain buyer interest with new equipment and special versions. The company is introducing the Subaru Forester STI Sport Black Interior Selection special edition for the 2024 model year.<br/><br/>Based on the current STI Sport trim introduced in 2022, this version features a darker interior that combines Nappa leather upholstery for the seats with silver stitching and piano black inserts.<br/><br/>Additionally, the STI Sport Black Interior Selection can be combined with the exclusive Offshore Blue Metallic exterior colour. Despite the connotations of the STI Sport badge, the model does not receive any power upgrades in lower trim levels and produces the same 175 hp (130 kW / 177 PS) from its 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine. It does, however, feature a set of STI-tuned dampers, resulting in improved credential processing.<br/><br/>Another highlight of the 2024 MY is the Geyser Blue color, available exclusively for the X-Edition and XT-Edition trims. This is the same color used on the US-spec Subaru Forester Wilderness, first introduced in Japan in late 2022 with the XT-Edition.<br/><br/>Both the X-Edition and XT-Edition trims are equipped with waterproof upholstery, durable cargo floor lining and black interior accents. The main difference is that the Forester X-Edition gets the 2.0-litre e-Boxer hybrid powertrain, while the XT-Edition gets the more powerful 1.8-litre turbocharged engine. All trims of the Forester come standard with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.<br/><br/>Pricing for the 2024 Subaru Forester in Japan starts at ¥3,069,000 ($20,040). As for special trims, the X-Edition starts at ¥3,377,000 ($22,051), the XT-Edition starts at ¥3,432,000 ($22,411), and the STI Sport Black Interior Select starts at ¥3,850,000 ($25,137).<br/><br/>This may be the last model year of the fifth-generation Subaru Forester in the Japanese market. China's oldest car brand Hongqi enters the German market with a luxury, seven-seat electric SUV<br/><br/>The E-HS9 offers two battery options and a three-row layout for seven passengers, with a maximum range of 320 miles.<br/><br/>With prices starting from 80,000 Euros, the E-HS9 outperforms rivals such as the BMW X7 and offers luxury features.<br/><br/>In many ways, Germany is the epicenter of modern luxury vehicles; Brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche set the standard in most categories. Even Britain's most prestigious brands are owned by German automotive groups, including Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Therefore, it seems only natural that Hongqi, China's most luxurious domestic brand, will enter the German market and compete for the spotlight.<br/><br/>Often referred to as the “Rolls-Royce of China” for its flashy vehicles and increasingly design language, Hongqi is owned by FAW, China's second-largest state-owned automaker. FAW hired Rolls-Royce's former chief designer Giles Taylor in 2018. Taylor's influence is clearly visible on the E-HS9 electric SUV, whose design hints at his previous work on the Cullinan.<br/><br/>Already having a presence in some European markets including Norway, Denmark and Iceland, Hongqi's entry into Germany with the all-electric E-HS9 follows Xpeng's last entry into the market with SUVs.<br/><br/>The E-HS9 offers an attractive design along with a three-row layout for seven passengers. It will be available in two battery configurations. The first can store 99 kWh and gives drivers a range of up to 289 miles (465 km) on the WLTP cycle. The second option, exclusive to the European market, offers a larger 120 kWh battery that increases the SUV's range to up to 320 miles (515 km) on a single charge.<br/><br/>Hongqi says the E-HS9 can make up 62 miles (100 km) of range in 10 minutes at a fast-charging station, thanks to a charging rate of up to 140 kW. There's room for all those batteries, thanks to an overall length of 205 inches (5209 mm), making it slightly longer than the BMW X7.<br/><br/>China's Hongqi Comes to Germany with Ambitious E-HS9 Electric Luxury SUV<br/>Similar to Bavaria's full-size luxury SUV, the Hongqi offers three rows of seating for seven passengers. However, the model with the larger battery pack only comes with six seats. There's a greater emphasis on luxury with leather upholstery, but both models benefit from features like adaptive cruise control, LED matrix headlights, and more.<br/><br/>While Hongqi aspires to compete with Germany's luxury brands, it may face difficulties in doing so. Despite its impressive appearance, numerous Western reviews criticized the SUV for sloppy chassis calibration and perceived poor quality.<br/><br/>Prices for the E-HS9 start at €80,000 (about $86,700 at current exchange rates), while the Exclusive Long Range edition starts at €102,995 (about $116,600).
