Description: Chris Guzy, chief technology officer at Ballard Power Systems, talks with Daniel Sieberg about the history of fuel cells.ntGuzy says a fuel cell converts a fuel, in this case hydrogen, directly into electricity without combustion. He says the hydrogen needs to be obtained from other chemical compounds that contain it, like methane, through a process called reforming. It can be done chemically, from natural gas, or through electrolysis, from water, which he says is running a fuel cell backwards.
