To produce this small spider, FIAT relied on Bertone who, starting from the previous stylistic experiences made with the Testudo Corvair and with the Alfa Romeo 2600, designed an original car whose success was not long in coming. The list price was immediately interesting: 1,050,000 lire for the small Fiat 850 Spider , so it was immediately cheap to buy and; the presentation took place at the Geneva Motor Show in 1965 and the car was put on the market in the same year, with a very varied range of colors: red, dark green, light blue, beige, black, light gray, immediately recording excellent sales in Italy, Europe and, above all, the United States, where it was called “Little Ferrari”.
